Montezuma
Welcome in Montezuma! Montezuma is an enchanting
oceanside village with small and large hotels to fit
every budget. The local restaurants and bars offer all
ones heart could desire in terms of culinary delights.
Montezuma also offers two grocery stores, a post office,
a bakery (Swiss baker) and a small bookstore with maps
and postcards. There is also a library and a boutique
for handcrafted souvenirs.
The scenery is amazing. There is both a large and a
small beach to enjoy, whatever your preference.
Montezuma also offers countless activities such as
fishing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, cruises,
horseback riding, mountain biking and motorbikes with
four wheels. Canopying is a special new sport which
involves gliding via a cable through the jungle from
tree to tree. Nearby in Tambor there is also a 18 hole
golf course. If surfing is your cup of tea, head for
Malpais where the best waves are to be found.
Only 8 km from Montezuma lies the first founded national
park of Costa Rica. There is a two hour walking trail
through the park which rewards you at it s completion
with a stunning beach. If you walk quietly you may
discover monkeys, iguanas, anteaters, an enormous
variety of tropical birds, squirrels and even snakes or
an ocelot. At the beach you are rewarded with fresh
water to drink or for a refreshing shower.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica lies in Central America, bordered by Panama
to the south and Nicaragua to the north. East of Costa
Rica lies the Caribbean and to the west the Pacific
Ocean. Costa Rica with it' s 51 000 square kilometers is
slightly larger than Switzerland. Around a third of the
4 million inhabitants live in San José. The national
language is Spanish. 40% of Costa Rica`s land is
dedicated to farming. Coffee, bananas, organic
vegetables, fruits, cacao, sugar cane, corn, rice,
potatoes, pineapple, tobacco and cotton are among the
countless products grown here.
Electricity is produced with hydroelectric power and 14%
out of thermal sources and is partially exported, so
there is no need for nuclear power plants. A NASA study
proved that San José has a very healthy climate. Costa
Rica depends on agriculture and tourism so there is very
little air pollution from industry or power plants.
San José lies at 1165 meters above sea level with a
stable temperature of 20°C the entire year. The various
micro-climates are responsible for the unbelievable
variety of fauna and flora.
205 species of mammals, 150 birds, 376 reptiles and
amphibians, 220 different snakes of which 10% are
venomous are to be found. 12 000 species of plants
including 9000 which are flowering and 1200 variety of
orchids alone make Costa Rica a gardeners paradise.
Thankful for all these gifts of nature Costa Rica has
attempted to preserve them in the 39 national parks for
the enjoyment of its own people and visiting tourists.
You have to see it to believe it! |
